I had the opportunity to speak with someone who was formerly an executive with Time Warner Books in New York. I asked him about the supposed stygma with self-published authors and the publishing business. He informed me that anyone that says there is a stygma with self-published authors doesn't know the publishing business because all the industry cares about is whether they can make money off the product. {Everything's about the money, honey}

One thing I have found funny though is that when I pass on this gentleman's helpful information and use his terminology - he referred to us as 'vanity publishers' - other self-published writers have gotten very upset. It's just a label people. So what? We paid to have our book published so technically we are vanity published and who cares? Quit fretting about things that don't matter. Now let's see what can do with our self-published, vanity books.
